Our client, an international company specialized in the medical industry, located in the canton St. Gallen, is currently looking for a dynamic and motivated EHS Specialist (m/f) to start as soon as possible.


As EHS Specialist you will guide and help handle all Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability functions for the site in compliance with EHS policies and with all applicable EHS regulations. You will handle the risk and drive cultural change to reduce the probability of EHS incidents. Furthermore, you will improve the EHS organization to promote the EHS culture across the organization. The variety of this position includes:

  • Develop, implement and supervise all site safety, health and environmental programmes to ensure Federal and State, Local compliance
  • Implement EHS procedures and KPI aligned with company strategy for the site considering both the Global Strategy/plans and the local legislation
  • Track and report EHS performance metrics to BU Operations leaders
  • Run compliance with all EHS Regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments to ensure that all processes have been evaluated and documented and actions are identified to reduce the risk to an acceptable level
  • Run all Site EHS trainings for all employees and contractors
  • Deploy behaviour-based safety programmes
  • Ensure safety and Health programmes are rigorously implemented
  • Ensure emergency planning is effective
  • Lead site safety behavioural audits and incident analysis; analyse trends on audits, incidents and near miss reports and report same to management team
  • Lead the site safety committee to promote safety awareness and improve the safety of the site by growing issues identified to closure
  • Track environmental performance with a focus on balanced improvements
  • Handle all hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities
  • Maintain good relationships with relevant external partners (authorities/communities/network)
  • Be the primary contact for Federal, State, and local EHS regulatory agencies


  • Successfully completed Higher Education or technical college degree in the fields of chemistry, engineering, biotechnology or related.
  • Solid experience in a similar role within the field of life science
  • Able to prioritize, strong communication skills and work under pressure as a team player
  • Analytical, solution oriented and able to deal with a fast moving and multicultural environment
  • Fluency in English and German are a requirement
